\A Brief History…
Posted on May 9, 2015
The Trinity Alps Golf and Country Club is located in the heart of Weaverville, CA. The site where the golf course sits currently has had a storied past starting with the development of a race track created by Alex Love in 1871. This 550 yard race track flourished for years until 1928 with the opening of an airport boasting a runway of over 1800 feet. The first Trinity Pilot was Weaverville’s own Moon Lee. This was used until Lumberman Vic Rose & his wife Maxine bought the property in 1954. In the following years Vic and Maxine donated the land to the community of Weaverville so that the area could have a golf course. It was thanks to their generosity that Felix Claveran was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning his own golf course. So build a golf course is exactly what Felix and his wife Elizabeth did in the year of 1973. Felix had three dreams. The first was to be a PGA Class A professional. The second dream was to own his own golf course, and finally to be a tour player. He fulfilled two of those dreams and stayed at the course for 26 years until he left to build another golf course in Brookings, Oregon.
With such a storied past and the influence of many, the current LLC and its investors have many to thank for what they have today in a dream of their own in restoring the Trinity Alps Golf & Country Club to the heydays of the past and more. Thanks to Kathy Rose, Vic’s daughter, who has stayed the “ups and downs” of years past and granted the current LLC and its investors to do what Kathy promised her father Vic, that the golf course would be just that, a community and public golf course.
